Sažetak
Entrepreneurship has become a developmental 'mantra' for national and international programmes, policy and visions. It is considered as one of the driving forces behind economies and societies. Becoming more entrepreneurial oriented is a prerequisite for successful companies while fostering entrepreneurial behaviour has become a part of public and private-sector missions. The growing body of literature is arguing that entrepreneurial intentions play a significant role in the formatting of entrepreneurial behaviour, and in the decision-making process of becoming an entrepreneur. Personal attitudes, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control are called motivational 'antecedents' of entrepreneurial intentions and thoroughly studied within the theory of planned behaviour, developed by Ajzen (1991). The applicability of Ajzen's model for predicting the main antecedents of entrepreneurial intentions were successfully tested in this study among Croatian and international (European) students, as well as distinctions considering several demographic (control) variables. The results of the correlation and regression analysis pointed out that personal attitudes towards entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial ability (perceived behavioural control) represent the most relevant components of the theory of planned behaviour model, while subjective norms have a minor role. Statistically significant differences were found in six control variables: age, family background, occupation, household incomes, student exchange programmes, and country of origin. These results confirmed previous conclusions from numerous researchers and brought additional empirical evidence as potential support for policymakers regarding entrepreneurship incentives.
