Sažetak
Within the system of youth care with behavioral problems, it is noticeable that girls are numerically less represented and perceived as a more demanding and complex population than boys. On the other hand, modern principles in working with young people at risk, as one of the most important aspects of an individual approach, emphasize the gender aspect and gender-responsive interventions. Regarding that, it is important to discuss the specifics of girls and the characteristics of working with them. The aim of the paper is to discuss the characteristics of group work with girls with behavioral problems in residential care. The paper presents practical examples of two group programs implemented in Croatian practice. Programs indicate that working with girls is characterized by specific content focused on relationships and social skills, emotions, and experiences of victimization and trauma. Regard to working methods, it is noticed that group work is based on creative techniques and interviewing methods. The significance of the topic is the exchange of knowledge and experience about the possibilities of working with girls with the aim to improve the care of girls and the quality of professional work.
