Sažetak
With the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, the INSPIRE directive with its implementing rules became binding for Croatia as of 1 July 2013. Article 21 of the INSPIRE Directive directly refers to the requirement that Member States shall monitor the implementation and use of their NSDI and that they shall report the results of this monitoring to the Commission and to the public on a permanent basis. In this context, an approach has been established that supports the implementation of the monitoring and reporting of INSPIRE and the NSDI in the Republic of Croatia. The approach was applied to the development of the annual quantitative INSPIRE monitoring report 2014 and the three-year qualitative NSDI/INSPIRE report describing the status of INSPIRE and NSDI implementation in 2013. This paper briefly introduces the established approach and its application in the Croatian context. The main highlights of two resulting reports are presented as well as some key recommendations for further INSPIRE/NSDI monitoring and reporting are provided. Being aware of the Croatian conditions, as well as the status in other EU Member States, it can be concluded that the implementation of INSPIRE and NSDI in the Republic of Croatia is in line with developments elsewhere in Europe.
