This paper is a pleading in favour of the Early-Modern "scientists" (Leonardo Fioravanti was himself a physician and an alchemist) who should be considered, along with many others from the times before and after them, as the forerunners of today’s science, and not as charlatans in the contemporary meaning of the word.
