Sažetak
Historical and cadastral maps are a corner stone of any landscape research project. In respect with our research area, the primary historic source are Venetian surveys (Mape Grimani from 1709) curated by the state archive in Zadar. The survey in question records a period of relative stability following the cessation of hostilities with the Ottoman empire. The maps are truly a well of various information for history of a landscape. In this sense maps containing old place names, archaeological sites, abandoned settlements and a host of other information necessary for landscape studies are a vital source for landscape studies.
