Sažetak
Contrary to the general expectations, the development of Croatian politics in 2018 was quite stable and without any serious turmoil. The governing coalition of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Croatian People’s Party – Liberal Democrats (HNS) remained unchallenged and united, despite several demanding issues that needed to be dealt with, particularly the continuation of the Agrokor case, which brought the HDZ and Bridge of Independent Lists (MOST) coalition government to an end in 2017 (Nikic´ Cˇ akar & Raos 2018). In contrast, opposition parties remained powerless in their attempts to bring down the government and individual ministers by the vote of no confidence. A major reason behind the opposition weakness lies in the intra-party leadership crisis of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP), whose public image and credibility continued to deteriorate. The Croatian economy continued to grow with promising macroeconomic perspectives.
