Sažetak
A previously healthy 65 year old woman presented in our clinic with voice problems including constant hoarseness and intermittent aphonia, preceded by intense throat pain. The patient’s symptoms started two months before, immediately after sedated colonoscopy accompanied with mechanical saliva aspiration in the upper respiratory tract. Endoscopy examination showed a presence of a series of granuloma in a chain formation located on the laryngeal side of the epiglottis and left aryepiglotic fold. After an excision done by cold instruments, the lesions were confirmed to be laryngeal pyogenic granulomas. In one year follow-up period there was no recurrence and the patient voice quality is optimal. This etiology, localization and formation of granuloma was never described in the literature to the best of our knowledge. The fact that the lesion was iatrogenic, warns the medical personnel to take extra caution during mechanical aspiration, or any kind of manipulation of the upper respiratory and digestive tract.
