Sažetak
The exhibition Stan za naše prilike (Housing for Our Conditions), held in Ljubljana in 1956, had an important role in the discussion of the housing development in Yugoslavia and implementation of new concepts of modern living. It was held by the Permanent Conference of Towns and Town Communities of the FPRY as "an exhibition on housing economics, techniques, and culture" and was accompanied by the First AllYugoslav Consultation on Housing Development and Dwellings. The exhibition was dedicated to the complex social problem of the housing and its positive and negative aspects, covering a broad scope of diff erent forms and practices evident in various parts of the state. It presented historical development of the dwelling, as well as models for contemporary apartments based on a synthetic approach to interior design and "rational furniture", introducing talented architects and new collectives such as SIO (the Studio for Industrial Design). This paper, based on archival and periodical research, discusses the exhibition, its role and consequences with the special emphasis put on the politics and culture of Yugoslavia' housing and interior design in the post-war years.
