Sažetak
Coal mining geoheritage in Mursko Središće area is a unique cultural landscape in the Republic of Croatia but endangered due to ignorance of value. The current interpretation is insufficient and inadequate. There is a poor interpretation of the coal mining activity from the historical point of view, but not the landscape and its elements which are part of coal mining geoheritage. Coal mining geoheritage represents significant tourist resource in the Mursko Središće area. By this resource, it is possible to make a positive influence on the development of specific selective forms of tourism, primarily the geotourism, and ensure the sustainable development of the research area without compromising its basic values. Specific forms of tourism can contribute to the long-term conservation of threatened geomorphological features and therefore the interpretation of the presented geoheritage is indispensable.
