Sažetak
According to the general public opinion natural and technical sciences enjoy a more favourable status among the student population than the social sciences and humanities. For this reason, the aim of this paper was to investigate the perception of the social sciences held by the student population, considering the fact that the perception of those who will be dealing with a certain science in the future is important for the social status of the respective science. The survey encompassed third year students of social sciences, humanities, natural and technical sciences. Each study group comprised 50 student participants. The results have shown that students perceive social sciences as less valuable than the natural sciences, according to various parameters. In order for such perception to change, social sciences should be popularized.
