Sažetak
Karst in Croatia is highly developed both on surface and underground. Sometimes karstification coefficient of a surface is in correlation with underground karstification coefficient and vice versa. On the other hand, geoscientists are better acquainted with genesis and processes of surface karst forms and various methodologies are developed for surface karst valorization. Considering that, karst underground is not out of reach of human- induced negative impacts and there is a need for the quantitative valorization of karst underground intrinsic value in order to protect it. Valorization of karst underground is challenged on many levels but the most prominent obstacle is insufficient professional research, as product of technical difficulties in karst underground exploration and research. In this work application of relative valorization of relief method, which is applied and developed for surface relief valorization, is tested and modified on example of five caves in order to quantify intrinsic value of observed caves at micro level (absolute value) and at macro level (relative value). Systematic observation and later valorization and protection requires the inclusion of various experts, especially geoscientists. One of the aims of this work is to make an example for application of geoecology and geomorphology in karst underground researches. The absence of a unified methodology and valorization (except for tourist purposes) threatens the entire karst system at national level. Every mistake during inventory and particularly valorization of karst underground leads to domino effect of negative impacts in entire karst system both surface and underground which compromises a previously established protection system.
