Sažetak
Wolves’ predatory nature is the main reasons why they have been burdened with an exceedingly bad reputation. Stereotypical depictions that emphasise their dangerous features on the one hand complicate the attempts of fictional wolves to form friendships with other animals in animal fantasy, and, on the other, lessen their chances of being spared by human hunters in reality (unless they are protected as an endangered species). However, contemporary picturebooks often focus on pointing out wolves’ virtues such as friendliness, loyalty, courage and perseverance. Anthropomorphic wolves frequently show young readers ways how to overcome their fears and learn important lessons about health, hygiene, nature, responsibility, and sharing, and the importance of providing help to those who need it.
