Sažetak
In globalized post-modern context, traditional mission of the Armed Forces has to be redefined, if the military wishes to preserve its relevance. This paper examines the position of defence in modern societies ; the civil- military relations issues and involvement of the military in non-military acticities. Strong involvement of the military in non-military activities can significantly contribute to improvement of its image in public. At the same time, it could lead to excessive relying of the society on military potentials and creation of a specific dependence on the military.
