Sažetak
The samples of the organic-rich Cretaceous carbonates from 15 localities in the Outher Dinarides (Dalmatia, South Croatia) were geochemically investigated. The appearance of the organic matter in sediments varies: from thin laminae to thicker layers, uniform dispersion in mineral matrix, fissures and cavities filled with bitumen or bitumen coatings. The objective of the study is detailed geochemical characterization of types of organic matter and their genetic correlation. The results of the analyses show the presence of the kerogen type I-II in fine-grained, laminated limestones, which means the samples investigated are considered as source rocks of very high generative potential. Due to the specific quality of organic facies, hydrocarbon generation appears at very low degree of thermal stress. Comparison of source rock extracts and bitumen in fissures and cavities establishes high degree of similarity, which indicates short migration phenomena.
