Sažetak
Students' attitudes and interests towards each form of learning and teaching technology can influence their understanding of technology, achievements, and career development in this field. The role of the teacher in this process is certainly not negligible. The problem is the desirable qualities and competences (profile) of the teacher, which influence the student's achievement and understanding of technology and the development of students in this field. In this regard, this paper provides an overview of the researches of students' attitudes towards technology learning and teaching, technology in general, and an overview of profiles of technology teachers. Based on the analysis of previous research, it is indicative that teachers who have their own experience and knowledge in technology and engineering, but who understand the broader social and humanistic aspects of technology, have greater success in teaching. It is clear from the analysis that the teaching of technology still lacks considerations of the ethical component of technology, the analysis of advantages and disadvantages, cultural or gender dimensions, values and policies, historical dimensions, and especially the importance of technology for sustainable development. The low emphasis of these components, as a product of the traits and competencies of the teacher, will continue to cause inappropriate understanding of the technology by the pupils, especially by specific gender or culturally diverse groups. This analysis raises questions about desirable competencies and models of technology teacher education, which should shed light on future researches.
