Sažetak
The first step in the edonomic unification of the European Union's member-states was made succesfully. The second step &#8211 ; ; the creation of the European Monetary Union &#8211 ; ; now being made, and the third one is the political unification of Europe and the creation of a dommon state. World history has never seen a peaceful implementation of such a project, with the approval of the various countries. No wonder that this project had many opponents in the beginning. The successful European integration encouraged futher activies to achieve the final goal. The prolonged preparations resulted in the creation of the European Monetary Union &#8211 ; ; EMU. Since 1 January 1999, the EU member-states, which fulfilled the conditions set, have pursued a common monetary policy. The conditions for the accession to the EMU were accepted by the member-states in Maastricht in 1992.
