Sažetak
Neuroblastoma is the most common malignanat solid tumor in childrene, but little is known about the etiology, prevention and effective monitoring the course of the disease. In this study we present the results of cytogenetic analysis in our group of 20 children with neuroblastoma. The aim of the sutdy is to determine the constitutional variability of C-heterochromatin of chromosomes 1, 9 and 16 in children with neuroblastoma and to compare it to healthy control and to determine the frequency and types of acquired genomic abnormalities in our group of children with neuroblastoma. A normal constitutional karyotype was detected in all children with neuroblastoma. Statistically significant differences between the patients and the normal control were observed by studiying C-segment lenght and localization variants of chromosomes 1, 9, 16. Chromosome analysis of malignant cells revealed complex karyotype abnormalities including numerical and stuctural changes. Aberrations of chromosome No. 1 were the most frequent clonal rearrangements. This study cnofirms the karyotypic heterogenity of neuroblostoma and revealed some rare cytogenetic aberrations. Additional investigations are necessary to provide better understanding og the role of certain chromosome region in the genesis og neuroblastoma.
