Sažetak
Clinical work with psychiatric patients, both as victims and perpetrators of sexual offences, is presented. Psychiatric patients are often stigmatised not just by the general population but also by mental health professionals and legal professionals. There are many cases of psychiatric patients who were victims of sexual violence and who were not treated appropriately due to prejudices, myths and misconceptions on the side of psychiatrist, psychologists, lawyers and judges. Psychiatric patients are not more violent than the general population and do not commit more sex offences, compared to the general population. Less than 5% of sex offenders are NGRI. Therefore, it seems that psychiatric patients do not commit sexual violence, contrary to everybody’s belief.
