Sažetak
This paper deals with the re-socialization of alcohol addicts that can be traced from a personal and social aspects. Alcoholism has the effect on the psychological, behavioral, social, economic and social functioning of addicts. It is mostly about long-term, regular and intense consumption of alcohol during which the mental and physical addiction to alcohol may cause disorders of the psychic, social and physical health of addicts. Treatment of alcohol addiction begins most often within hospital treatment and lasts several weeks to several months, and resocialization takes the rest of the life of the treated alcoholics. Personal aspects of addiction re-socialization are most often related to the personal decision of addicts about personal decision on abstinece and its maintenance as well as about personal work on personal growth and development such as: improvement of self image, strengthening of personal potentials to face with oneself and various problems, communication skills and relationships with the environment, especially with family members, and consequently improving personal satisfaction with life. The social aspects of alcohol addiction re-socialization are most commonly associated with its active involvement in different roles in the family, more active involvement in the workplace and involvement in new activities (hobbies) and the local community. The most important role in this long process is having clubs of treated alcoholics who through their group support and group counseling encourage social rehabilitation of alcohol addicts to become active members of their families and society within their environment. The aim of this paper is to deepen the understanding of the process of re-socialization of alcohol addicts observed from the personal and social aspect. For this purpose, in one of the alcoholic-treated club a small pilot study was conducted with the members that have been regular members for at least six months. The following questionnaires were used in the survey: a personality assessment questionnaire, a personal satisfaction index (personal benefit index), a questionnaire on communication skills with a spouse, a questionnaire on the satisfaction of marriage and a questionnaire on social support. The results showed that the level of the values observed in the mean high and high. Significant differences in the comparative values of the "basic personality strength" estimation for the period prior to treatment and abstinence and after treatment and abstinence were found. Recommendations for practice are related to further work on enhancing the personal capacities of treated alcoholics and their communication skills. Recommendations for future studies relate to a more systematic monitoring of outcomes of group work in as many clubs of treated alcoholics for their permanent improvement.
