Sažetak
We report on a rare case of severe hypovolemic shock, metabolic disturbances, coagulopathy, and prerenal insufficiency in a 72-year-old female patient treated with capecitabine. The patient underwent a total colectomy due to malignant descending colon obstruction and consecutive ishemic colitis. The oncologic therapy consisted of capecitabine in usual dosage regimen, but in spite of frequent and abundant diarrhoea on the seventh day, capecitabine therapy was continued for one more week. In the beginning of the treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, the daily stool volume loss was up to 7 liters, and the patient was not responsive to high doses of loperamide. Apart from intense supportive therapy, after 48 hours maximum recommended doses of octreotide infusions werw introduced. The daily stool volume was gradually reducet to normal, and the patient completely recovered with no signs of relapse.
