Sažetak
In many ways, a classroom can be considered a public sphere, and teaching in a classroom can be viewed as a public performance. There are many studies that deal with issues of stage fright in performing artists. There are also many studies that deal with stress of teachers, but the issue of stage fright among teachers is rarely mentioned. The aim of this paper is to explore those issues on a very specific population: performing artists that are also teachers, as we can presume that they have experienced stage fright both on stage and in the classroom. We used interview as a research method, because of the heterogeneity of the population we explored. The performing artists have different experience on stage: some of them are professionals with many years spent in theatre, and some of them perform publicly in a non- professional manner. They also have different experiences in classroom: they teach elementary school children and university students. In addition, we wanted to explore these issues on various types of performing artists, so we chose a musician, a dancer, an actor, a puppeteer and a poet as interview subjects. We interviewed our subjects to find some specific ways each of them uses to resolve stage fright. We also explored their thoughts on did experience in public performance help with teaching in classroom and how.
