Sažetak
This introductory essay offers an analytical overview of fundamental scholarly issues within contemporary and historical theories of myth. How can myth be, and how has it been, historically analyzed and defined? How have its existence and ambience functioned semiotically? The essay offers a general historiographic overview of mythological research in literature and culture, with a special focus on theoretical paradigms that inform and/or help to interpret recent neomythological structures and creations. Another goal of this text is somewhat more practical: the co-authors introduce and contextualise the articles in this special issue of Russian Literature entirely focused on neomythologism in Slavic literature and culture.
