Sažetak
Denture stomatitis is often found under the removable dentures. There are many factors influencing it, such as patient's age and gender, smoking habits, denture age, denture material, denture wearing ha- bits, denture hygiene habits, oral hygiene instruction, denture cleanliness and denture plaque accu- mulation. The aim of this study was to find out the influence of these factors on the prevalence of denture stomatitis under removable partial and complete dentures. A total of 200 patients took apart in this study. Half of the examined patients (100}; were wearing, complete dentures and the other half (100}; removable partial dentures. There were 63 males and 137 females, in the age between 45 and 83 years. Different smoking habits, denture wearing habits, denture hygiene habits, denture cleanli- ness and oral hygiene instructions made significant influence on the degree of denture stomatitis in complete denture wearers (p < 0.01 };. The only significant influence on denture stomatitis found in the removable partial denture wearers that were sort of denture material and support (p < 0.01 };. The sig- nificant correlation was found between the denture plaque accumulation (Tarbet index}; and the den- ture stomatitis (Ne~on index}; in complete upper and lower pU = 0.85 ; pL = 0.61 and removable up- per and lower partial dentures (pU = 0.45 ; pL = 0.62).
