Sažetak
With the aim of determining the optimal mineral nitrogen fertilization for lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) according to the yield and nitrate concentration in lysimeter water a stationary field trial with 6 treatments was set up in Southern Croatia. The trial included different rates of nitrogen fertilization from 0 to 450 kg ha-1 N. Water leached through the soil to a 80 cm depth was caught by the installed lysimeters. The lysimeters applied were without lateral sides (after Ebermayer). According to the lettuce yield best results were obtained with 100 kg ha-1 N. Highest nitrogen content in lettuce was recorded in the treatment with 300 kg ha-1 N. Average NO3- N concentrations in lysimeter water varied from 113 to 350 mg L-1 NO3- N. Depending on the trial treatment average quantity of leached NO3- nitrogen varied from 29.9 to 85.0 kg ha-1.
