Sažetak
The City of Rijeka as the European Capital of Culture 2020 has been a significant city for centuries in the European context in the field of industrialization and technology as in terms of culture and education, as well as migration processes. Through a brief history of this city, the University of Rijeka will be presented with all its components, with special emphasis on Humanities and German Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka. The influence of the technology will be considered through several aspects: 1. through the historic development of the city in terms of technology and industry 2. through education at the University of Rijeka with regard to student mobility through new programs (such as Ceepus and Erasmus), driven by new technologies and the introduction of the Bologna Process at the University 3. Through international cooperation that influences the development of interdisciplinarity and points to the role of transculturalism in society 4. through teaching processes in which new technologies play an indispensable role in the creation of teaching in the form of teaching and learning (in a concrete example of the course: Literature and Media)
