Sažetak
''Think global, act local'' is an assertion, which has been used in many areas of the human activity. Energy production suits this statement very well, because energy lack, as well as disparity of distribution is a global problem, which could be solved locally by building small scale hydropower plants. Due to the rapidly de-veloping technology, construction of the small hydropower plants, i.e. specific turbines on rivers is a prom-ising solution. Potential for construction of the small hydropower plants will be presented for real case stu-dies in Croatia, rivers Bednja and Dobra. Also, state-of-the-art of the existing small hydropower plants technology will be presented.
