Sažetak
This article attempts to depict a practical example of project-based learning in English for Specific Purposes classroom at the University Department of Professional Studies of the University of Split. The aim is to present the outcomes of a semester long- classroom-project work resulting in students’ creation of an online travel agency that specializes in Croatian gastro-tourism and offers an 8-day, 8-cities culinary experience entitled “Taste the Feeling of Croatia”. Besides offering food-related activities, the web page also presents an attractive itinerary that includes accommodation, transport and a brief depiction of regional, cultural attractions. Furthermore, the website includes all the information a working travel agency should have, such as the travel contracts and travel fees for the offered services. Through the practical work and the description of the project, students demonstrate their ability to incorporate English language skills with content knowledge thus showing what specific benefits such an interdisciplinary work can offer to our students and future professionals in the area of tourism and business. As these results support further implementation of project work, the paper will conclude by offering some final remarks in support of such a model of ESP language teaching.
