Sažetak
In Croatia, the third sector is characterized by path dependency, which emphasizes the history in which the freedom of association was limited and the turbulent development of the sector in the 1990s. Today, the impacts of the third sector are perceived in many areas but there are the challenges for its further development. Challenges to the development of the third sector in Croatia were investigated through quantitative and qualitative research. The results show that challenges can be divided into three broader groups: institutional framework, work of organizations and the general values and modernization capacities in society. In the conclusion, by integrating the results of research some specific recommendations to policy-makers and practitioners in the third sector are given that could stimulate sectors further development.
