Sažetak
A heat pump is an energy efficient and environmentally friendly technology for heating and cooling. In recent years it has strongly been promoted as part of the European Union’s energy strategy. Heat pumps can use air, ground and water as a heat source or heat sink but due to the lower investment costs, mostly used are air source heat pumps. The goal of this work is to present the SEADRION project " Fostering diffusion of Heating & Cooling technologies using the seawater pump in the Adriatic-Ionian Region" funded by the European Union. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of the seawater heat pump have been elaborated in detail, as well as the seawater intake methods and the necessary permits for seawater exploitation. In conclusion, the existing state, planned seawater intake methods and targeted energy and greenhouse gas saving of the tree pilot plants, whose design was planned within the project, will be discussed.
