Sažetak
Digital preservation initiatives and implementations have been in the past, and are still today, overwhelmingly in-house endeavours. However, when switching from in- house to cloud services, or from one cloud service provider (CSP) to another, users rarely consider the issue of whether their data, documents or records will be preserved for the long term, remaining accurate and authentic. The chapter starts by identification and analysis of 10 categories to be used for thorough investigation of CSP services. Next, the Preservation as a Service for Trust (PaaST) model is defined based on the core concept that it is not the internal components of the process used in preservation that matters, but whether the output faithfully reproduces the input. Finally, the cloud-enabled digital preservation and access for records not transferred to archives, and ‘dark’ repositories as-a-service are discussed.
