Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to reveal early adopters, “savers” of old čakavian forms and leaders and spreaders of language innovations in the social network from the quantitative sociolinguistic research of the local vernacular of Crikvenica. The results show that leaders and spreaders of language innovations are the oldest members of the social network that tend to restore older, archaic variants of linguistic elements in the system. The early adopters of that archaic variants are the centralized members of the researched social network that can provide a new linguistic model for other non-innovative members of the group. The “guardians” of the vernacular of Crikvenica belong to the most close-knit social group in Crikvenica, the fishermen. The correlation of solidarity attitude and loyalty to the non- standard norms has been confirmed, but the correlation of status attitude and lower integration in the social network has not been confirmed.
