Sažetak
By parallely observing the energy and IT sectors, the authors have reached a conclusion that certain IT technologies have a certain application in the energy sector. Such processes are inevitable and represent the evolution of business operations. In this article, the authors have analyzed contemporary changes in the energy sector and IT sector development projects and presented the synthesis of new technologies. An active approach to the following of IT trends, new business models and industrial technologies is a prerequisite for sustainable development and long-term competitiveness of energy companies. For this reason, the authors believe that the more technologically advanced companies will achieve greater system security, and will be able to expand their business operations and become more competitive. The development potential of energy system security represents a new interdisciplinary challenge that is expected to grow in the very near future. The aim of this paper is to analyze and evaluate the issues connected to the energy system or power system security in relation to intermittent energy sources. The EU energy strategies continually increase the demand for renewable energy share in total electricity production. Such sources provide greater energy independence for the EU, but with their increased presence, they also create the problem of balancing and planning power systems. The authors analyze the current production and technology planning models for better and safer planning and develop a new model using advanced IT technology. Given the rapid increase in intermittent energy sources, the authors believe it is important to consider the security aspects of integration and to anticipate the tools that such a system needs, in order to plan and ensure a secure and continuous supply of energy for all customers. At the end of the paper, the authors conclude that by synthesizing the results of this study, any subsequent planning of electricity production can be signifi cantly improved. This would in turn contribute to the development and improvement of the power system, as well as increase its security.
