Sažetak
The fast growth of small enterprises is one of the key characteristics of the countries in transition. It is a logical economic and social phenomenon which is the consequence of the changes in the social-economic system, ownership's restructuring (privatization) and new entrepreneurship possibilities connected with the growing role of the market. Even with specific circumstances (separation of Yugoslavia, war and other political risks, insufficient inflow of foreign capital...), Croatia has realized the similar positive trend in the development of small enterprises. The same trend characterizes County Primorsko- goranska. Throughout transition period, the crucial problem for the development of small enterprises was concentrated on the field of financing. The financing can be of the particular importance for the growth of small enterprises.
