Sažetak
Purpose: In Croatia, workers who work in workplaces encountering harmful or dangerous working conditions should have regular periodic health examinations. Therefore, it is of great importance that the examinations are performed uniformly for all the workers who work in the same working conditions in the same profession. Methods: One thousand seven hundred and eighty- three workers in four different regions of Croatia were chosen for the evaluation of periodic health examinations. The analysis of the data gathered was performed by following the current legislation regulating the field of workers healthcare and disease prevention. Results: Quantitative and qualitative analysis of periodic health examinations shows discrepancies in more than 60 per cent of workers in all four regions of Croatia. Conclusion: Although periodic health examinations are performed regularly as to prevent the onset of occupational and work- related diseases, if not performed uniformly, we can say that the prevention of workers health impairment is not functioning correctly. The paper shows discrepancies that should be a good platform towards forming a uniform basic health prevention programs for all the working population in Croatia.
