Sažetak
Teaching courses in higher education requires continuous care about teaching techniques. This is especially true for teaching courses in the field of digital technologies, where the challenge is threefold: how to implement new technological developments, how to embed digital technologies within interdisciplinary topics related to business and how to apply teaching methods and techniques which are suitable for covering various aspects of technology implementation. The use of contemporary methods and techniques covering the broadness of context- modelling is common practice in teaching courses related to improving business processes, information systems development and digital transformation. Another important aspect of understanding how digital technologies contribute to organizational goal improvements is the Customer-orientation. The complexity of designing processes relaying on emerging digital technologies, understanding what customer needs are and what role customer experience plays, puts new demands in research and teaching activities. Based on industry trends, gamification, blended learning and storytelling techniques arise as a potential suitable teaching improvement. In this paper, we present our experience with implementing storytelling techniques in teaching digital technology related courses and illustrate how this approach was implemented in one real case. After lectures, we conducted a short survey among graduate study students on gathering their first impressions about using storytelling for topics related to strategic planning of information systems. Our experience shows that teachers cannot easily evaluate benefits from the student-perspective and that there is a need to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis. Finally, lessons learned are presented in order to demonstrate the benefits of including storytelling in teaching courses in Higher Education Institutions.
