Sažetak
In today's medical practice galloping development of science, computer science and software dramatically changed the practice of medicine, and tools that already exist and allows entry of data, not only from the perspective of classical clinical approach, where we simply enter a record information about the disease and the patient, but also from the perspective of statistical comparability of data, including the causative factor, which could be of occupational origin. Modernet Project, led by Manchester University team, exploring the usefulness of data, trends, and methods of entering data, ultimately served to survey the policies across EU Member States, and pointed to the problem of data comparability when it comes to occupational diseases. We conducted a retrospective study using cases of the three most common types of occupational diseases admitted through the Croatian Institute for Health Insurance in the period of 2012-2015. The criteria being used in diagnostic and decision process were analysed. Given the current activities carried out by EUSTAT, which in a way warn of inequalities in diagnostic criteria between countries of EU, this paper will present the results of a retrospective study in which we tested the comparability and consistency of diagnostic criteria in the process of recognition of three most common occupational diseases in Croatia.
