Sažetak
INTRODUCTION During the Pre-accession, MATRA Project, Croatian Institute of Occupational Health (CIOH) has carried out four workshops at the beginning of 2007. They were addressed to contents and dynamics of periodic health examinations. AIM The aim is to show how Croatian occupational health physicians (OHP), as participants, evaluated those workshops and also to form an insight into applicability of such a form of continuous medical education (CME). METHODS Participants of workshops were 63 OHP, aged 30 to 62 years, working in occupational health services in four regions of Croatia. After each workshop participants filled in the questionnaire with 9 questions. Questions addressed overall impression about workshop organization, expectations met, contentment with subject, working materials, diversity of applied educational tools and duration. The last question addressed the participant's subjective impression on workshop quality. The scale of grades was from insufficient (1) to excellent (5) for each question. All 63 (100%) OHP, 22 (37%) males and 43 (63%) females, filled in the evaluation forms. More than a half, 35 (55%), were in the group of 55 years of age or more. RESULTS The span of average grades per single question was from 3, 84 to 4, 82. Best graded were overall impression on workshop organization and their contents. Majority of participants, from 20 (31.7%) for working materials to 44 (69.8%) for educational tools, assigned grade excellent (5) per question. The lowest number of participants assigned grade insufficient (1) per question. Duration of workshops was evaluated with the lowest average grade (3.84) because of its duration which was considered too long. CONCLUSION This paper gives a fair picture of expectations met by our occupational health physicians who participated in four workshops. Considering high grades, especially for contents, activities and quality of the workshops, and also the age and working experience of participants, it can be concluded that workshops present valuable means for CME. Therefore, implementation of such a kind of education, as a part of CIOH basic activities, can be based on experience obtained at the workshops.
