Sažetak
An important part of supramolecular chemistry refers to the coordination-driven selfassembled structures. They can in principle be generated from a wide range of suitable building blocks in solution as well as in the solid-state.[1–3] Otherwise, they can be obtained through supramolecule-to-supramolecule transformation. [4–5] A wide variety of compounds having either discrete, polyhedral or infinite structures can be obtained depending on the chosen strategy. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis provides the most reliable structural information in the solid state. However, solid- state structures of the metallosupramolecular assemblies may be different than those existing in a solution where an equilibrium between different structures may occur. Additionally, change of solvent or presence of an appropriate guest may have a great impact on the resulting assemblies. In this context, NMR spectroscopy appears as a powerful method for structural assignment. The single crystal X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy, either alone or in conjunction with other methods, serve as two complementary methods for structural determination.
