Sažetak
Nowadays, many successful businesses manage to grow simply because they understand their business environment, i.e. market strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. For this reason executives usually periodically carry out market segmentation and look for information which can help them to identify improvement areas and ease decision making process. In such way market segmentation represents one of the main activities within the domain of strategic air traffic planning. In that respect this research deals with segmentation of European air traffic market on an economic basis. In order to conduct air traffic market segmentation it is necessary to apply different analytical methods. Therefore, this research included creation of new European air traffic market segmentation model which is based on Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA). Its purpose is to identify different market segments and spatially homogeneous areas on the basis of quantitative research. Hence, this paper presents conceptual framework of innovative model, research results obtained by its application and identifies different market segments and spatially homogeneous areas. Also it determines their spatial and value based distribution, sizes, boundaries and so address the issue of the European air traffic market segmentation in terms of cost-efficiency as one of the four key pillars of future European air traffic development.
