Sažetak
Road safety in concrete environment can be considered as a driver/vehicle/roadway system with behaviors which can be almost precisely (formaly) described. Without perfomance measure of safety system any improving action can not be evaluate, therefore one objectivized descriptor of road safety (safety performance function) is elaborated. Intelligent Transportation Systems (or Advanced Transport Telematics) have a greatly potential to improve all perfomance measures or road traffic/transport system, but safety effects from first ITS applications are not large. Technological harmonization and co-operation within and across EU-borders are suggested.
