Sažetak
RC buildings with masonry infills are composite structures consisting of RC bearing frames and masonry infills, which are very often inhomogenous and have a significant impact on the seismic performance of the structures. It is particularly challenging to design these buildings to achieve a satisfactory earthquake performance. Recent design practice has shown that, in order to achieve favourable behaviour of integrated structures, the masonry infill walls should be designed either to work in conjunction with the frame to resist the lateral loads or to remain isolated from the frame. In common design practice, the effects of the infill are neglected. This paper presents the observations from a series of shaking-table tests on a 1:2.5 scaled three story RC building with masonry infill walls, carried out in the Dynamic Testing Laboratory of IZIIS in Skopje in the frames of the research project FRAMA realized by collaboration between the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Osijek and UKIM-IZIIS, Skopje. The tests were expected to contribute to overcoming the contradictions within the research community regarding the influence of the masonry infill on the seismic performance of such mixed structures. Three building models were designed and subjected to a tailor-made testing protocol to experience performance states between minor damage and near collapse.
