Sažetak
Biomolecular interactions with high specificity and a significant degree of affinity play vital roles in all cellular processes such as gene regulation, protein synthesis, molecular organisation and recognition events. Determining the three-dimensional structure of macromolecules, ligands and their complexes is essential for obtaining a deeper insight into molecular mechanisms and dynamics involved in these interactions. The main goal of this research is to study the underlying mechanisms of recognition and degradation of reactive oxygen species in biological systems. It is focused on structural characterisation of the interactions between an enzyme glutathione peroxidase 4 and its lipid substrates by NMR spectroscopy in order to clarify the role this enzyme plays in various biological processes.
