Sažetak
The middle of the first half of the 15th century could, in a way, be called the „golden age“ of the University of Vienna, at least as far the students from the Kingdom of Hungary were concerned. This was caused by the initiatives of the Council of Constance and the reforms of King Sigismund, which enabled the educated among the clergy to reach high ecclesiastic benefices even if they originated from the lower classes. Therefore it is not surprising that at the University of Vienna during that time we find a whole plethora of future Hungarian prelates, which will fill the highest posts in the Hungarian ecclesiastic hierarchy during the next half a century. After this period of „flowering“, there will follow a long age during which the University of Vienna would be inaccessible to most of the Hungarian students, due to the dynastic struggles in the Kingdom of Hungary. The purpose of this report is to identify the future prelates at the University of Vienna during the 1430s, to study the time they spent at the University and the activities they partook in while studying there, and to give a brief account of their future careers. I shall also briefly present the contemporary teaching methods at the said university, with a focus on several interesting features of the curriculum.
