Sažetak
The Čakavian dialect of Susak has been know since its first description by Hamm, Hraste & Guberina 1956 and made famous in Balto-Slavic historical accentology by Illič-Svityč 1963 due to it supposedly preserving the old accentual paradigm d in monosyllabic o-stem nouns. However, Hamm, Hraste & Guberina 1956 was severly criticized by many – e.g. Vermeer 1979/2016, Vermeer 2001, Langston 2007 – and the existence of a. p. D on the island was in doubt. That at least a synchronic a. p. D exists on Susak was proven by Shrager 2011 (cf. also Kapović 2015: 172611), who did fieldwork with Susak emigrants in New Jersey (US) – however, whether Susak has a tone distinction, also a matter of great contention (and very relevant for a. p. D), remained unclear. The aim of this presentation is to bring forth new data on a. p. D on Susak – obtained through fieldwork on the island in 2018 – as well as on the question of tone opposition in the dialect, and the possible Balto-Slavic origin of the Susak a. p. D.
