Sažetak
The concept of rural development at the local level is increasingly concerned with the general public in view of the more representative process of decentralization of powers since the mid-90s of the past century. Rural areas should be considered as a specific form of social and economic community that have certain natural features, and which represent development potentials. These advantages should be fully valorised and promoted to achieve economically viable development. Accordingly, the aim of this paper was to show that adequate local policy can create the prerequisites for optimum business conditions by encouraging measures that reduce operating costs. This study, through the coefficient of reactivity and the coefficient of economics, will show how the costs are based on the current economic circumstances of the Erdut Municipality example, and whether there are assumptions for the survival of agricultural producers. Practice shows that successful local communities are those who have managed to preserve their identity while at the same time adapting themselves creatively to external changes. Through the results of the work it is evident that changes in the environment must be accompanied at the local level and that local economic policy should actively participate in strengthening the sustainable development of its area.
