Sažetak
The current complex religious–non-religious dynamic in Croatia was shaped by a specific socio-historical context which includes the socialist and the post-socialist period. The fall of communism determined a change of the social roles of religiosity and non-religiosity/atheism. In other words, propagated knowledge about objectified (non-)religious meanings, as well as plausibility and legitimations of institutionalized actions and roles which stem from it, transformed with the change of the political and social system. Based on the theoretical perspective of the sociology of knowledge this chapter will focus on the rather new phenomenon of organizing non-religious persons and atheists in Croatia and the role of (natural) science on the group (collective) and individual level.
