Sažetak
An injection of 107 C57BL lymphocytes into lethally irradiated (950 R) CBA mice produced a reproducible splenomegaly in irradiated recipients. The splenomegaly, caused by proliferation of the injected lymphocytes, reaches its peak 4 days after the injection of cells. The enlargement of the spleen can be partially or totally prevented by rabbit antimouse lymphocyte serum (ALS). The serum was injected intraperitoneally (0.1 ml/mouse) on each of the first 4 days after the injection of lymphocytes. This way, the ability of 5 different ALS to suppress the splenomegaly was evaluated. The potential of a given ALS to inhibit development of spleen enlargement correlated well (r=-0.96, P<0.01) with its capacity to prolong survival of (C57BL X CBA) Fl skin grafts on C57BL recipients.
