Sažetak
Revival of timber building in many European countries commits and inspires not only architects and planners but also wood scientists and other enthusiasts to plan and build long lasting high-quality timber products. Durability of timber products outdoors can be achieved by proper material selection, technical design (physical protection, adequate detailing), chemical and surface protection and regular maintenance. This final conference is therefore organised with the aim to assess developments over the four years of the COST Action, and what has been achieved in that time in terms of best practice for bio-based materials in construction, how research and development has helped increase awareness, and commercial opportunities that now exist. This conference has been organised within the frames of COST action FP 1303 Performance of bio-based building materials and locally organised and hosted by the Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb.
