Sažetak
Soil erosion is one of the devastating degradation processes of the soil in the World. The aim of this work is to study degradation and erosion on two different management treatments: tilled vineyard (T) and grass-covered vineyard (GC) on 12° slopes near Ilok, Croatia where 8 paired plots (16 plots) were established to determine soil losses and runoff. The simulated rainfall was carried out at 58 mm h−1 in the summer of 2018 (< 14% soil water content) for 30 min on 0.785 m2 circular plots. The results showed that bulk density, mean weight diameter, water stable aggregates and organic matter content were significantly higher in GC plots than in T plots. However, time to ponding, time to runoff, infiltration and water holding capacity was significantly higher in T plots compared to the GC. Runoff sediment concentration was significantly higher in T plots. Significantly lower values of total runoff were identified in T plots. Conversely, significantly higher soil loss was noted at T plots (1.19 t ha-1) in addition to GC plots (0.10 t ha-1). Overall, tillage decreased vegetation cover, soil water content, soil organic matter and aggregate stability, while increased runoff sediment concentration, sediment yield and soil erosion. These results showed that agricultural management influenced water and soil loss and that tillage in this area should be avoided.
