Sažetak
Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI) is the component of a Spatial Data Infrastructure that encompasses marine geographic and business information in its widest sense. This would typically include seabed topography, geology, marine infrastructure, resources utilization, administrative and legal boundaries, areas of conservation, marine habitats and oceanography [8]. Marine Cadastre is considered as a base layer of a MSDI with fundamental information relating to maritime boundaries and associated rights and responsibilities, regularly updated and maintained [5]. The paper will discuss the state of blue geoinformation and marine cadastre in the world today and the role and the need of marine cadastre forming in the countries across the world, with an emphasis on Europe. There is a huge economic value in stronger collecting of geoinformation at sea and in stronger MSDI development. United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU) recognize a value of blue growth and blue economy and made a quite good legislative framework which could be an excellent starting point for stronger sea exploitation, but also sustainability in Europe and even in the less developed countries of the world. Unfortunately, today in the world and also in most European countries exploitation of the sea resources is not strong enough. Tomorrow it should be much stronger due to the fact that land resources and their exploitation are at its peak in most of the developed countries. What are the next steps?
